A 23-year-old man has been arrested by the South African Police Service (SAPS) for reportedly raping his 58-year-old mother.
The suspect raped his mum at her home in Ekuthuleni locality, Elliot on July 3rd, 2017 and fled the area without traces after the dreadful act.
He got arrested and handed over to the South African Police on Monday, July 10th, 2017 after some members of the taxi association identified the suspect.
The Cluster Commander, Colonel Gezani, confirmed the incident and thanked the community noting that the incident has illustrated that strong partnership between local community members and the SAPS is of inestimable value to the fight against crime in South Africa.
Over the years, South Africa has witnessed high cases of rape. In Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, a 95-year-old woman was raped and strangled to death in her home this year, while in Hebron, Pretoria, three South Africans boys were arrested for gang-raping a dog.
