A 38-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife in Haringey, UK.
Kema Salum of Kirkstall Avenue, N17 was charged on Saturday 31 March with the murder of 36-year-old Leyla Mtumwa.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 2 April.
A post-mortem examination was carried out at Haringey Public Mortuary and her cause of death was given as incised stab wounds to the neck and chest.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday the 30th of March. Leyla had returned from a night out with a friend and got into a heated argument with her husband.
Out of anger, he picked up a knife and repeatedly stabbed Leyla on the neck and chest. Their son had stood outside in the cold screaming for someone to help.
Police and medics were called to the scene but were unsuccessful in reviving Leyla as she died on the scene.
A Go Fund Me page has been made to help raise money to send her body back to Arusha, Tanzania by her mother’s wishes.
