A 60-year-old herbalist, Kareemu Okeyode and his client, Oladele Bakare, 51, died yesterday afternoon, allegedly “conducting rigorous rituals and incantations to conjure up money”.
The Nation reports that Okeyode entered his “sacred room” with Bakare in the morning after he had prepared many fetish objects, including an incense powder, for the ritual.
Neighbours were later concerned that no sound of prayer or incantation was coming from the “sacred room”.
When they knocked on the door in the afternoon, they did not receive any response. The development compelled them to force the door open. They were shocked to discover the bodies of Okeyode and Bakare. They alerted the police about the discovery.
Ogun police command spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying that the two men were pulled out of the room naked.
Oyeyemi said the two men locked themselves up in the “sacred room” during the ritual and that “it was very likely that they died of suffocation in the room suffused with smoke of burning incense”.
