Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade threw a mild jibe at President Muhammadu Buhari in her speech at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) held on October 22, 2016.

Alade, who won an award for the Best Female Artiste at the event gave a soft remark of the president’s comments stating that his wife, Aisha belongs in the kitchen.

While receiving her award at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg, she said, “Give it up to all the African women in the building.

“We’re not meant for the kitchen alone, we are not meant for the living room alone, we are not meant for the other room alone.

“We are hardworking women and we belong to the society too.

“If not, I won’t be here receiving this award.”

The singer was one of the artistes expected to go home with an award for their exceptional performances in their music career.

Another big winner at the event was Wizkid, who received awards for the African Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste and Best Collaboration.

  22. I watched and listened to the clip where she said all that.it doesn’t make sense at all,for me its an awkward moment.she spoilt her speech with all that because its not new again and its not funny.people need to grow smh

  34. Ghaií! Nigerians do hate Yemi Alade for sure and the way we love this lady here in Kenya and infact her music rocks anyway a prophet is never welcomed in his motherland. I really wonder what Yemi did that earned her this all hatred, comments here are scaring

I watched the clip where she said that but she went too far by saying all those bullshit president Robert Gabriel Mugabe had said a lot of crap even more worst than our president yet most of his speech was never on a spot light for joke Nigerians need to grow up I’m not a buhari fan but for yemi alade case she is moron for going too far for crying out loud why was she looking for Johnny at the first place surely after searching for Johnny both of you are gonna be in the other rooms lol yemi alade has a big mouth!!
