Malam Gimba Yau Kumo, a former managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and newly minted husband of President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter Hajiya Fatima, is reportedly under EFCC investigation.

Sahara Reporters allege that the 57-year-old is currently investigated by the anti-graft agency due to his involvement in fraud scheme during his rule as MD of FMBN.

Recall that only last week, President Buhari’s second daughter Hajiya Fatima has married Mr Kumo at her father’s home in Daura, Katsina. She has become the 4th wife.

The marriage was contracted in accordance with Islamic injunctions and was attended by top federal and state government officials.

Gimba Ya’u Kumo was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria on December 4, 2010. His tenure ended in August 2014.

    • Paul France, Buhari is NOT in possession of the recovered loot, and he has no power to make use of it. Until a legislation is passed in the National Assembly on what to do with this money, no one can use it. I’m not rich, we all are experiencing the effects of this recession. Even the rich are crying but is that a reason to go back to corrupt days? Thereby eroding the gains made in tackling corruption? God forbids!
      Recession is not peculiar to Naija, and we’re not alone. Virtually all countries whose revenue is derived from oil are facing recession. These include
      . Egypt
      . Algeria
      . Venezuelan
      .Qatar
      . Saudi Arabia
      . Nigeria
      This recession was caused by some factors. As at 2014 oil was selling at around $130per barrel on the international market, and we failed to save. Now, oil is selling at $49 per barrel. Also our thirst for foreign items further erode the scarce resources available. Some few weeks before the presidential election, there was massive looting in the country.
      Now, to come out of this recession, certain issues must be addressed. Government will have cut spending, financial discipline must be adhered to not only by government but by everyone. Our thirsts for foreign products curbed ie, we should start patronizing local products such as rice, shoes, clothing material, corporate bodies should be made to purchase automobiles here like Nissan, Innoson, etc. They should also source for materials in house, impulse purchasing of luxury items will have to be forgone in the mean time. The Boko Haram insurgency and other security challenges will have to be sorted out in order to attract investments. Also, official corruption must brought to a minimum, and above all, we can’t come out of this recession unscathed. Sacrifices will be made, we’ll experience hardship, pains and deprivations for a little while but at the end of the day, it will be for the greater good for every citizens. These and many more are the issues this administration is trying to address. Let’s be patient, we’ll come out of this hardship in a few moments. We know ourselves, we’re Nigerians. We are a nation of Hope. We never allow little hardships spoil our endeavors, we always improvise. We’re hungry and poor today but we get by. And we’re ever hopeful tomorrow will get better.
