Every Nigerian who reads this story will surely be in awe cause we all remember the tragic story of Kechi Okwuchi, the Jesuit college student who was among the 2 people that survived the Sosoliso plane crash which took 107 lives years ago.
Impressively, Kechi was one of the contestants at the 2017 America’s Got Talent who succeeded in impressing the judges and audience.
She in her introduction, gave reason of how she fell in love with music after experiencing the crashed plane which killed 107 passengers out of 109
“I was in a plane crash when I was about 16 years old back in Nigeria. It took the lives of a 107 out of a 109 passengers, and I was one of the 2 survivors,” she said, adding that lying in the bed in the hospital and not being able to move, music was her escape.
Kelechi was able to share her voice on America’s Got Talent after she underwent several surgeries through pain and her solace in family and music.
Simeon Cowell even gave her a standing ovation when it was all done.
In 2005, the ill-fated Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 coming from Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja crashed and erupted in flames at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
7 people were rescued alive from the burning plane, but only 2 survived the horrible experience.
