The Russian ambassador to Sudan, Mirgayas Shirinskiy, was reportedly found dead in his swimming pool on Wednesday at his home in Khartoum, Sudan’s capital city, becoming Russia’s fourth envoy to die in the last eight months while overseas.
The Sudan Foreign Ministry did not provide his cause of death.
A police official, Omar al-Mokhtar, told AFP that there appeared to be no “foul play.”
He said:
“He was found dead in the swimming pool of his residence at 7:05 p.m.,”
The Agence France-Presse also reported that Shirinsky was found dead in the swimming pool.
