A Nigerian Sickle Cell survivor, identified as Samira Sanusi has taken to social media to celebrate her brother, Musty Sanusi who donated his bone marrow to save her 13 years ago.
Since the bone marrow which was transplanted into her in Vienna, Austria in 2004, she has devoted her life to fighting sickle cell by creating awareness, supporting other less fortunate young people with the condition emotionally and financially via her foundation, the Samira Sanusi Sickle Cell Foundation.
She took to micro-blogging website, Twitter and wrote:
“13 years ago today @mustysanusi gave me his Bone Marrow/Stem Cells which cured me of Sickle Cell Anaemia”
Nigerian Twitter users have since then crowned her brother a hero as they celebrate him.
