Men of the Delta State Police Command are currently in search of a father who allegedly masterminded the gangrape of his own 16-year-old daughter in Ogwashi Uku area of the state.
According to reports, the suspect simply identified as John, confronted the victim on the road while she was running an errand for her mother, and accused her of conniving with her mother to steal his N50,000.
It was gathered from Tribune Online that the mother of the victim had been separated from her husband for over 10 years, but was still subjected to domestic abuses from him.
She had earlier been beaten mercilessly by the suspect in her rented apartment before he proceeded to attack their daughter on the road for allegedly stealing his money.
The suspect reportedly dragged his daughter into his house and arranged for some boys to beat her up before they took turns to rape her.
Concerned neighbours are said to have broken into the room to rescue the victim and rushed her to a hospital in Ogwashi Uku where she is being treated.
The Spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the dehumanizing incident, said the police can not confirm the authenticity of the story as the victim and suspect are yet to give a statement.
He added that the police have launched a manhunt to find the suspect and the guys who raped the underage girl.
Meanwhile, human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishi have also spoken on the incident. He said he can’t share pictures of the victim because she is in a terrible state.
He quoted the victim as saying,
“My mother had sent me to her sister to tell her how my father beat her and it was on my way that my father met me and took me to the house and locked me inside where the boys inflicted wounds and he, my father shaved my hair.”
