Photos of the three-storey building that collapsed in Ebute Metta area of Lagos state have been shared online.
The photos as seen on Google Photos shows the building standing at 31, Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, before it collapsed on Sunday night, May 1, leaving many trapped.
The death toll has risen to eight as at the time of filing this report, while 23 persons have been rescued from the rubbles.
According to reports, the building was dilapidated and distressed before it eventually gave way.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, said the building had been sealed for demolition due to it’s dilapidated state but the occupants refused to move.

in other news, over thirty Corp members serving in Delta state escaped being burnt to death in a fire outbreak that happened in a fuel station on Thursday, April 28th.
According to reports, the corpers who served in Warri were on their way to Asaba for their passing-out-parade (POP) when the coaster bus they boarded stopped by the gas station to get fuel.
While waiting to get fuel, the bus exploded and fire erupted from under the bus.
The students who were locked in the bus scampered for safety.
Three men who witnessed the incident quickly came to the rescue of the student.
Many of the corps members sustained serious injuries during the chaos. Thankfully no life was lost in the incident.
