A 21-year-old Nigerian man, Aigbe Onyisi, has been arrested for stealing an air conditioner in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Onyisi, who’s said to be an ex-convict, was nabbed by men of the Anioma Security Watch Network while trying to make away with the air conditioner.
The suspect confessed to having connived with one Aboi to steal the AC but ran out of luck while his accomplice managed to escape, according to Ika newspaper.
The suspect pleaded for leniency, claiming that he went into crime because there was no help and that he learned barbing but didn’t have the capital to establish the business.
The Coordinator of Anioma Security Watch Network Ika zone, Cadet Nwanne Ajari, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect has been terrorizing Odozi, Baleke, and Iregwa marketers.
Ajari stated that the suspect has been apprehended a number of times, and he has just been released from prison after having completed his punishment for previous crimes.
He revealed the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
In related news, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, have rearrested a suspect previously arrested for pickpocketing and stealing in 2017.
27-year-old Tunde Ajeigbe who embarked on a robbery mission with his accomplices Ekene and Bolenbe, was arrested after he jumped off a bike to snatch an android phone from a commercial bus passenger at 7UP area of the state.
The robbers were given a hot chase by residents of the community who also alerted the RRS operatives underneath Otedola bridge. Tunde was apprehended while two of his accomplices who abandoned their motorcycle escaped after also being given a hot chase by the police officers.
Confessing to the crime, the suspect recalled how he was arrested for a similar crime in 2017 by the police. He said in his confessional statement.
