Grammy-award winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed the moment he knew he had become a big-time artiste.
He said he came to the realization that his music was popular and he had become a star when he performed at a concert in the Eastern part of Nigeria in 2014, and received an overwhelming show of love.
According to the music superstar who hails from Port Harcourt, the concert was a pivotal moment for him because South Easterners are not receptive to outsiders so the immense turnout showed that he was a star.
He shared this in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, and emphasized that he had never experienced that type of love before and it felt unreal.
His words,
“They only like their own people, so if you’ve crossed over there and you’re not from there then you know you have popped.
I have never seen anything like that, I didn’t even think it was real (laughs) It was a real thing that could happen.”
