Olumide Aderinokun, a Nigerian businessman and politician, has stated that the N2m ‘enjoyment allowance’ paid to senators is not a big deal.
Aderinokun, who is married to media personality and actress Stephanie Coker, took to Twitter to state this on Tuesday, August 15, adding that the amount is too small for a senator.
He tweeted,
“The 2m that was given to senators isn’t a big deal. It is even too small for a senator. What can a family man do with 2m Naira($2k). Why are we making it a big deal. But they shouldn’t have made it public. Making it public is a bit insensitive to plight of Nigerians.”
This comes after the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, told members of the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly that a token had been sent to them to enjoy their holiday.
The announcement was caught on camera and sparked outrage among Nigerians, with many describing it as insensitive at a time when the masses are experiencing economic hardship.
