Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has taken to social media to share the unforgettable moment he realised his lyrics were vulgar.

Sharing on the microblogging platform, X, the rapper narrated his experience during a performance at a company’s end-of-year party recently.

Blaqbonez said that while he was singing for the elderly crowd, he discovered his songs were offensive.

He claimed he was staring into their eyes the entire time, and he would never forget how they reacted when he dropped a few bars.

He tweeted;

“Yesterday, I performed at a company’s end of the year party, very mature audience, that was when I realised how vulgar my lyrics actually were. Looking mummy & daddy in the eye while saying ‘can’t let these fxxking btches see no emotion’ is something I’d never forget 😭”

Reacting, Daniel Regha, wrote; “Emeka ur lyrics have always been the issue in a majority of your songs; No-one can deny ur talent or unique vocals, but u need to work on your songwriting skills.

Keep in mind that kids also have access to streaming platforms & often listen to your songs, so your music shouldn’t be inappropriate.”

Another tweep, motivatedpso, commented; “It seems like performing for a mature audience made you realise the impact of your lyrics. It’s a valuable lesson, and now you can work on refining your songs to cater to a wider audience.

This experience will surely help you grow as an artist and make your performances even more memorable in the future. Keep shining!”
