A Tiktok lawyer by the name, @Tessy fred reveals a law that states that a landlord’s failure to issue a rent receipt to his tenant would incur a hundred thousand naira fine.
In the video that has now gone viral, the lawyer educates the public on the uncommon law constituted. She however gave the disclaimer of it being tenable only in Lagos state.
This answered the questions of netizens regarding its legitimacy. Some decided to follow up on the law in confronting their landlords while others intend to wield it as a future weapon against any tenant injustice.
