A Nigerian man based in the United States of America was flabbergasted at seeing his fellow countrymen vying for political positions during the ongoing election.

He showed visual evidence of Nigerian names campaigned for and carried on yard signs in the voting ground he was driving past.

The man was so impressed at the free-for-all policies in the U.S. which accommodates all races, that he voiced his interest in also trying his luck in politics in the future.

The reaction to this on the internet by Nigerians living in Nigeria was not so positive.

They applauded the Westerners for their lack of discrimination in political matters but bemoaned the ethical bigotry that is prevalent in many African countries like Nigeria.

They condemn Nigerians being so narrow-minded that they do not allow others from different tribes to vie for any ministerial seat in their state but go to other countries to demonstrate that right.

Here are some of the comments:

jidenovva: But a Yoruba man with an igbo woman can’t run for Governor in Lagos. We have a very long way to go as a country

korexchange: In America here No tribalism it’s all about who’s got the solution.
