According to French newspaper, Chelsea have been strongly linked with PSG for defender Gregory van der Wiel. It’s claimed that Chelsea are one of a number of clubs, including Manchester United, who have wanted to sign the player.
The Dutch international has more than 40 caps for his country, and Le Parisien claims that Chelsea wanted him to slot straight into their first team.
The idea is to replace Branislav Ivanovic who had a poor start to the season against Swansea City. However, the Serbian could probably rightly claim that he’s been the better of the two players over the past couple years, and it was considered PSG wanted to sell.
The newspaper says Chelsea have made an approach to try and sign the defender but the Ligue 1 champion don’t want to sell.
