Liverpool are close to signing Illarramendi from Real Madrid, as report claim that the Spanish giant are planing to offload the player before the end of the transfer window.
Illarramendi has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer after struggling to gain a regular place at the Bernabeu for the past two season.
While the midfielder had hoped the appointment of Rafael Benitez could result in more starting opportunities this term, the new Bernabeu boss has indicated Illarramendi will be a back-up to Toni Kroos and Luka Modric
Reports has suggested that the 25-year-old is now free to leave the club after receiving an offer from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
