Embattled police boss, Abba Kyari, has dragged the Federal Government to court over his continued detention by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
It can be recalled that the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) was arrested on Monday, February 14, by NDLEA over his alleged involvement in a drug deal.
Abba Kyari was accused of taking out 15kg from 25kg of cocaine which him and his team intercepted after arresting some traffickers that came into the country from Ethiopia.
Well, Kyari, in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, is seeking an order of the High Court in Abuja to compel the NDLEA to grant him bail on health grounds, pending the hearing and determination of his fundamental right enforcement application.
Kyari through his lawyer, Cynthia Ikena, claimed to be suffering from diabetes and hypertension and asked the court to order the NDLEA to release him.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, maintained that the suit would require the response of the Federal Government, amnd adjourned the case to February 24 for hearing.
