Another tragedy has struck the Nollywood industry as popular veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor has tragically passed on.
The 61-year-old actor, known for his comical roles in movies, passed away after a long battle with kidney disease in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In 2023, he suffered a stroke that led to partial paralysis of his left leg. He was undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to treat the paralysis caused by the stroke.
Only a few days ago, a video of him soliciting funds from well-meaning Nigerians for a kidney transplant was shared online. Sadly, he didn’t make it.
The sad news of the actor’s death was confirmed by a family source on Sunday evening, March 24, 2024.
Media personality Morris Monye also confirmed the tragic news via the microblogging platform, X.
He tweeted,
“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing.
He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful.
We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.
This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country.”

His death comes only a few weeks after the unfortunate demise of his colleagues, Mr Ibu and Sisi Quadri.
May his soul rest in peace!
