If you haven’t seen either the currently trending Netflix limited movie series, King of Boys II: The Return of the King or the prequel, King of Boys, both directed by Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba.. then there might be a little bit of spoilers ahead.
Actress, Toni Tones in both movie titles, plays the role of young Eniola Salami (played by Sola Sobowale), where in different scenes, she portrays the sinister past of the protagonist and how she attained the feat she has in the movie.
Tones’ role required her to speak quite a lot of Yoruba in the movie and the thespian cum singer whose native dialect isn’t Yoruba, revealed that it was one of the most challenging things to do in the whole of her acting career.
A fan sent in a tweet where they erroneously assumed that Toni Tone could speak Yoruba as they credited her amazing performance in the currently trending Netflix limited series.
Quoting the tweet in response, the actress revealed that she had to learn the language because of her role in the movie and had no understanding of what she was saying.
According to her, Mr. Dele Adetiba, the director of the movie, Kemi Adetiba’s father was her tutor who shared a message with Kemi who shared it with her about her dad’s pride at Toni’s grasp for the language.
