Club Rumours was packed with notable Nigerian comics acts on Friday, 17th of March, as they all gathered in unison for the launch of the new and unique, Comedy+ App.
Ali Baba, Opa Williams, Saka, Koffi, Ushbebe, Senator, Emmaohmygod, Wofaifada, Monica Friday, Mark Angel comedy, Deeone, Ebiye, Nedu, Josh2funny, Stillringing, Bellokreb, Etinosa, Longmancomedian, MCShakara, Romeo were some of the comedians that witnessed the launch of the unique app, Comedy+ last night at Club Rumours.
Fathers of Nigerian comedy, Opa Williams and Ali Baba turned up in their full Urhobo regalia and were presented with special recognition awards for the good works in developing the comedy industry in Nigeria by MTN.
The Comedy+ app is powered by MTN in conjunction with Huawei. The app provides comedy in segments such as Skits, Stand-up, Episodes (cut-out from movies and TV Shows), Animation, Pranks and Freefall with a 1 month free trial access on first time log-in.
Subscribers can get the app from the respective app stores or send COMEDY to 2100. It is also available via http://comedy.mtnonline.com
MTN’s General Manager, Brands and Communications, Richard Iweanoge at the event said that the aim of Comedy+ is to help established and upcoming comedians monetize their creativity. According to him, the app will provide subscribers, access to tons of comedy videos from their favorite comedians through a subscription based system.
Ali Baba and Koffi both hailed the new platform, describing it as thoughtful and a welcome idea.
At the event, Pidgin speaking comedian, Monica Friday cracked up the guests with her warri pidgin prayer when asked to open the event. Nedu aka Nkechi who was the host, added his Thunder flavor to the event.
Some other guests at the lively event include music acts, Iyanya and Praiz, Big Brother Naija’s ex housemate, Gifty, Beat FM OAP, Olisa Adibua and MTN Project Fame season 9 winner, Okiemute.
