Senator Florence Ita-Giwa has no patience for the tedious judicial processes involved before ruling on cases especially rape cases.

“The best way to end rape is by cutting off the genitals of rapists,” the former senator reportedly said at an event yesterday.

“If I were a judge and a man is brought to court for raping a child, he will receive capital punishment. But I will say, ‘don’t kill him, rather let him live his life in pain, let his organ be cut off’”, she said.

This comes at a time when there are, on weekly basis, reports of rape cases piling in court, awaiting hearing. For Ita-Giwa, sparing rapists means unleashing terror on girls and women. The perpetrators do not deserve that anatomy anymore, she said, adding that rapists are lucky she left the Nigerian Senate.

“[A rapist] should not be allowed the pleasure of using that organ anymore,” the 70-year-old politician continued, adding, “If the organ is not cut off, at the end of his term in prison, he will use it on other children.

“Fortunately for them, I’m no longer in the Senate but I will find a way to get it into the chamber. This is the proper way to end the evil of rape in the society,” she concluded.

  61. Well reading some comments here I get confused at how some citizen react to matter of National Security, with sentiment, what if dat child is ur niece,cousin sis, or even sibling? What would be your reaction? Well cutting off manhood equals to murder,therefore let one of such person’s hand be cut off. It would be a remarkable reminder to him.   65. Honestly Women are being abused too much, by men. And I condemn foremost such violence against women(including girls).Sincerely, is Mrs Giwa in support of Shariah Law or instant justice? Secondly, is he in support of human rights and believe in rule of law? Much as I’m against rape, defilement, indecent assault etc, let’s be careful not to rush in taking any hasty decisions against suspects or criminals. I know a lot of people who have been accused wrongly and are languishing in prisons. Mrs Giwa , one way or the other is calling for death sentence and not for cutting off of the suspects manhood. For me I think the such acts should attract maximum sentence of 50 yrs and 20 yrs minimum if the suspect is found culpable. May the Lord heal the scur in every woman heart as a result of such barbaric acts in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen

  74. I dont agree!. Instead they should be jail with hard labour to serve as a deterent to others.. Cuting their manhood will harden them to commit more evil and vent their anger on de society. De country will end up having impotent men all over de place.
