American Idol season 19 runner-up, Willie Spence has passed away in a fatal car crash at the young age of 23.
The talented singer, whose cover of Rihanna’s Diamond went viral years back, crashed his 2019 Jeep Cherokee into a parked semitruck in Marion County, Tennessee, on Wednesday, October 13.
Moments before his sad demise, the talented singer shared a heart-rending of him singing a gospel song titled “You Are My Hiding Place” in his parked car.
In the video he posted on his verified Instagram page, the American idol finalist tilted his head sideways, shut his eyes tightly and sang the Christian song passionately.

Sadly, the heartbreaking news of his death was announced hours later by Katharine McPhee in a post shared on her Instastory.
The singer, who performed with him during American Idol, said “life is so unfair and nothing is ever promised.”
The organizers of American Idol also paid an emotional tribute to him, saying they are devastated by his death.
Sharing a photo of Spence performing on stage, they wrote,
“We are devastated about the passing of our beloved American Idol family member, Willie Spence. He was a true talent who lit up every room and will be deeply missed. We send our condolences to his loved ones.
