The political landscape mourns the loss of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a distinguished member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former representative of the Ika federal constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives.
According to family sources, Dr. Ojougboh passed away on Wednesday evening, February 7, while watching the highly anticipated AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.
A source who spoke to Leadership said,
“As soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped.”
May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
In other news, after Nigeria’s thrilling victory over South Africa in the AFCON semifinals on Wednesday, February 7, some people living in Rivers State trooped to Stanley Nwabali’s father’s house to celebrate.
It comes as no surprise that Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper of Nigeria’s national team Super Eagles, has been receiving widespread praise for his outstanding saves during the match.
While some Nigerians flooded social media platforms with his pictures and heaped praises on him for helping Nigeria secure its victory, residents of Rivers State embarked on a jubilant procession to the goalkeeper’s father’s house.
Videos circulating online capture the lively scenes: some excited residents rode motorcycles, while others jogged and sang victory songs on their way to honor his father. Watch the video here
