The Nigerian Army has hinted of a new plot by the Boko Haram sect to pollute water sources in the north-eastern parts of the country.
Assistant director to Army public relations office of 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Major Joseph Adekunle Afolasade in a press statement called on the people in the north-east to always be vigilant.
“The command wishes to inform the general public that Boko Haram terrorists plan to buy a large quantity of rat poison and other poisonous items from markets in Nigeria to enable them poison water sources, particularly in the north-eastern states.
“The Nigerian Army Theater Command, therefore calls on the general public, particularly the market men and women vending such items to be vigilant.
In the statement, citizens of the region are also urged to report any person buying large quantities of such commodities to security agencies.
