Akure – A High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo state capital Wednesday sentenced Saidu-Shakiru Adeyemi, the boyfriend of the daughter of the former state deputy governor Miss Khadijat Oluboyo to death by hanging.
Delivering judgement the trial Judge, Justice Samuel Bola said the prosecutor had proved the case of murder against the accused person beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Bola said circumstantial evidence connected the accused to the gruesome murder of the deceased. ” The death of the deceased emanated from the injuries he sustained from the hands of the accused persons. ” It was the defendant that killed the deceased person and not any two mrn as he claimed. It was an attempt to cover up that he claimed that two men he invited to his room strangulated the deceased.
“That he was threatened by the two men cannot exonerate the defendant because he had the opportunity to the raise alarm when he said the two men asked him to bring a shovel and digger from the house. ”
This court find it difficult to believe that the two men invited by the deceased murdered her in his room and he dug a shallow grave where she was buried and he fetched the cement which was used to plaster the grave and he covered it with rug”
“The act of killing the deceased was intentional. Evidences showed that the deceased was last seen with the defendant and she never came out of his room alive but her decomposing corpse recovered after five days. The accused person who completed his National Youth Service in 2017 reportedly joined the Yahoo plus guys in his desperate bud to make money.
Recall that the daughter of the former deputy governor Alhaji Lasisi OlOlubo was murdered by her boyfriend of over four years. The late Khadijat, 25-year was a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko,in the state Khadijat was found dead in Alao’s residence with her head and pubic hair shaved for money rituals by the boyfriend The accused person in his evidence explained that he had dated Oluboyo for four years before they parted ways in 2015 and that they only reconciled in 2018. Eight witnesses were called by the prosecutor while the accused defended himself.
