A bride’s special day was left in disarray after the hotel CEILING caved in at her wedding reception.
The best man at Emily and Gary Parkin’s nuptials had a very near miss after the roof collapsed on his head.
Neil Parkin was left stunned after falling debris brought an abrupt end to his brother Gary’s big day, the Daily Record reports.
The 27-year-old looked on as Gary and Emily cut the cake at the Queen’s Hotel, in Dundee, on Saturday. But after a cluster of celebratory balloons were released, the ceiling came crashing down around guests in the ground floor reception room.
He said:
“I got plastered but not the way I wanted. I’ve still got a sore head and am a bit dizzy.
“I was outside taking a family portrait when I heard they were cutting the cake.
“I came back in and they had only just cut the cake when I got a smack on the back of the head.”
Gary’s dad Bill said:
“A fragmented slab of concrete came down from the floor above. I was at the bar but heard Neil had been hurt. I came in and saw him sitting as white as a ghost.
“We’d only been in the place 40 minutes – it was only just beginning to fill up. They’re both understandably gutted. The day was ruined by half past eight.”
