Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has received two new nominations for the 2023 Grammys.
The recording Academy released nominees for their upcoming 65th edition on Tuesday, November 15, and Burna Boy secured two mentions for his “Love Damini” album in the area of Best Global Music Album and “Last Last” in the category of Best Global Performance.
Burna Boy will compete against other artists in the Best Global Music Performance category, including Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar for “Udhero Na,” Matt B and Eddy Kenzo for “Gimme Love,” Rocky Dawuni with “Neva Bow Down” by Blvk H3ro, Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode (Bayethe).
For the Best Global Music Album category, the Nigerian singer battle it out with Berklee Indian Ensemble (Shuruaat), Angélique Kidjo and Ibrahim Maalouf (Queen of Sheba), Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest, and Jules Buckley featuring Manu Delago (“Between Us … (Live), and Masa Takumi (Sakura)
With these nominations, Burna Boy now has six Grammy nominations overall and one Grammy win for the album Twice As Tall in the Best Global Music Album category in 2021.
