Two-time Grammy award nominee, Burna Boy and other Nigerian celebrities have demanded for the immediate release of Omah Lay and Tems after they were arrested in Uganda.
Omah Lay and Tems were arrested on the 13th of December in Uganda for violating the country’s COVID-19 safety measures and has since been in the custody of the Ugandan police.
The duo were arraigned before the Makindye Division court in Kampala and have been remanded in different prisons till Wednesday, December 16 for their court hearing.
Their arrest has stirred an outrage on social media as Netizens have spoken up against the actions of the Ugadan police. The hashtags #FreeTems and #FreeOmahLay has also been trending on Twitter since the arrest of the fast-rising Nigerian artistes.
Reacting to the news, Nigerian celebrities including Burna Boy, Runtown, Rema, Peter Okoye, DJ Spinall, Tacha, Teni, Do2tun, Fireboy DML, Mr. Macaroni, Laycon, and others have taken to social media to call for the release of the artistes.
Some of them have also appealed to the Nigerian Government to intervene and facilitate the release of Tems and Omah Lay.
