Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu has revealed his intention to buy a staggering 35% stake of Premier League Club, Arsenal FC.
According to him, the prowess of Enyimba FC while he was governor has increased his passion for the sport and is also the motivating factor behind his intended investment in Arsenal.
Recall that during his two terms as governor of Abia state between 1999 and 2007, Enyimba of Aba won the Nigeria Professional Football League five times ( 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007).
The local club also became the first Nigerian side to win the CAF Champions League back to back in 2003 and 2004 and the CAF Super Cup in 2004 and 2005.
The 60-year-old politician took to Twitter to announce his new ambition. He tweeted,
“Our success with Enyimba FC btw 2000-2007 has continuously increased my passion for football. As the pillar of sports in Africa,I am considering an investment in football & I will buy 35 percent stake in Arsenal FC
@Arsenal. Our target is to lift the Champions League & EPL…”
