Handsome and dapper looking Nigerian policeman, Aliyu Giwa, who has charms more than an any other Nigerian policeman has taken us down memory lane and virtually all he said can be related to!
I for one, am a 90s kid and I can totally relate to all that he’s spoken about especially the NTA channel with the rainbow colours! Some epic stuff back then y’all!
Read what he wrote below:
I need to remind some of us here, mostly some old buddies acting forever young. It’s allowed fam, growing up in the 80s & 90s was mad fun if I may say, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. After school heading home, naughty kids like us will try to clench.
Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a hot afternoon was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.. Omo! We ate cakes, bread & butter,& drank cold drinks with sugar in it, but we’re never overweight because we’re always outside playing.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, & we no die oh! We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps & then ride down the street. We would leave home in the morning & play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day! No Cell Phones…Unthinkable! We had real friends! We went outside & found them. NTA comes by 4pm sometimes 6pm with that rainbow colour lines. We fell off mango trees, got cut and broke bones & teeth, those days! nobody send u.
There were accidents. No one was to blame but us. We had fights & punched each other & got black & blue, still learned to get over it. We made up games with sticks & tennis balls & ate insects(grasshopper, scricket etc joor). Some students weren’t as smart as others,so they failed & were held back to repeat the same class!
Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that! If we got in trouble in school, & got punished..guess what? We got punished again when we got home… even worse!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers & problem solvers & inventors, ever.Honestly, the past 30 yrs have been an explosion of innovation & new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with them all. We are the leaders that was said will bring change! Honestly, we fought & we brought CHANGE.
Throwing back to the days we were building up good sense of responsibilities, morality, energy, positive thoughts and positive vibes. #TBTwords
