The Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja is grappling with an unsettling situation as Reverend Father Samson Emokhidi, a respected member of the clergy, has been reported missing.
Fr. Emokhidi, who serves under the Archdiocese, vanished without a trace on October 1, 2023, after leaving his residence, leaving the community deeply concerned for his well-being.
In an official statement signed by Fr. Sam Tumba, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, it was revealed that the priest’s disappearance had been reported to the local authorities, who have initiated an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
The statement, addressed to “All Priests, Religious, and Lay Faithful,” urged anyone with any information about Fr. Emokhidi’s whereabouts to come forward and contact the Chancery or the relevant authorities.
Fr. Tumba’s statement, dated October 30, 2023, emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting the priest’s unexpected departure and the subsequent absence of any communication.
The Archbishop and the Auxiliary Bishop sought the support and prayers of the entire Archdiocese family during this trying time.
The Chancellor, Fr. Tumba, stated that efforts to locate the missing priest were ongoing, and updates would be provided as soon as any new information emerged.
