Ace comedian, Tracy Morgan has finally opened up on how life was for him, following his terrifying multi-car crash 18 months ago which almost ended his life and career.
“My thoughts – I was in a very dark place. I was sitting right here, contemplating suicide. I couldn’t walk,” Morgan said, but he fought that urge and focused on the positive things in his life; his 29-year-old wife Megan Wollover and their 2-year-old daughter, Maven.
“It’s gonna take more than 18 wheels for me to get out of here. I have to raise my girl, raise my wife, raise my family.” the 47-year old Morgan continued, “Gotta keep my octopus alive. Gotta keep my sharks alive. Those are God’s creatures! I’m needed!”
But he recovered, his doctor told him that his accident was one of the biggest in the world. “A doctor said, ‘The two biggest accidents in the world was yours and Princess Diana,’ ” said Morgan. “Think about it. That’s heavy s—.”
Tracy Morgan suffered life and career-threatening injuries when a tractor owned by Walmart slammed into his limousine in 2014, killing his best friend, James McNair, and leaving him in critical condition.
“Emotionally, it’s hard for me to deal with,” said Morgan who had to learn how to walk again, how to do simple things again. “I asked everybody to be there that night. I have to live with that. But I had to forgive myself. I know Jimmy [James McNair] would want it like that.”
Last August, the comedian walked down the aisle by himself, without support, to marry Megan Wollover. In his interview with People, he said, “I [didn’t] want to walk my wife down the aisle with a cane or in a wheelchair. So I had to go hard with the therapy. I had to get better. There was no ifs, ands or buts about it.”
“Megan was by my side throughout all of the hard times of this past year,” he told PEOPLE. “She is my rock, and I couldn’t be happier to have her take my last name. We are the Morgans!”
