The Nigeria Customs Service, have arrested a Dubai-Bound passenger in possession of 5,342 ATM cards at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
The Customs Area Comptroller, Nasir Ahmed, who handed the suspect over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that he was arrested while about to board a Dubai-bound Ethiopian Airlines, with the ATM cards hidden in two sacks of beans.
Ahmed further stated that investigations will reveal whether the ATM cards were in use or expired.
He said,
“The law will take it course, We will hand him over to the EFCC. We are 100 per cent sure that the EFCC will do a thorough job because this a disservice to the nation”.
This is coming after one Onuwa Stephen, 37, was arrested in Benin, Edo State over ATM fraud.
The suspect was arrested at Obasanjo Shopping Complex Minna while he was about to purchase a large number of phones with another person’s ATM card.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have loitered around the premises of a Commercial Bank in Minna where he tricked a customer, spied her pin and swapped her ATM card.
