Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the Nigerian ruling political party, APC, has condemned singer Davido‘s comment about the country in an international media space.
Davido had on an American podcast, warned US citizens against relocating to Africa, especially Nigeria, saying the Nigerian economy is in “shambles”.
In response, Igbokwe demanded a retraction from Davido, saying that the country made him who he was.
On his Facebook page, he wrote, “My in-law Davido has made me sad by telling the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles. This is very sad. I will advise him to retract the statement ASAP. Nigeria made Davido. QED!!!”
Read the reactions that follow:
Jude Mmaduabuchi: Please Chief, tell us what he ought to have said
Somto Okonkwo: Oga Joe You said worse during the days of the PDP. What goes around comes around.
Mahmud Tukura: Indeed, Divido should retract his statement because the economy is favourable and booming and the more we try to understand the economy the more confused we become. 🤣🤣🤣
Aniekan Nyong Jonathan Udoeyop: However he put it, be honest to yourself and tell us if Nigeria economy is not in a worse state. Can you with all amount of sincerity to yourself say Nigeria economy is booming and waxing strong compared to what was handed over 29th May, 2023?
