Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted after his uncle, Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke, hailed him for a thrilling performance at the 2022 World Cup closing ceremony.
Davido performed at the closing ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on Sunday, December 18. It was his first public performance since the tragic demise of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
In a historic moment at the closing ceremony, Davido joined the duo of Aisha and Trinidad Cardona to perform “Better Together” (Hayya Hayya), which is the first track off the 2022 World Cup official soundtrack.
They performed the song before the final match between Argentina and France, which saw the former win and become the World Cup champion.
Following Davido’s performance, Ademola Adeleke took to his social media handle to commend his performance.
He shared a video of himself and others watching Davido’s performance on television and wrote,
“Myself and the beautiful people of Osun love you @davido. We all watched your performance live and you put a smile on our faces. Thank you for representing the nation yet alone the state of Osun.”
