The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has reportedly withdrawn the query letter issued to a student who posted a viral video of herself and her colleagues refusing to refer to Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, as ‘mother.’

The video, which sparked outrage online, had initially led to a query letter being issued against the student.

Recall that a student by the name of Osato Edobor was reported to have received a query letter from the management of the institution over a viral video.

The clip captured Nursing students from various institutions, refusing to refer to Remi Tinubu as their mother.

Following intense public criticism and backlash from Nigerians including public figures like Yele Sowore, Mr Macaroni who condemned the schools action, the institution has now reversed its decision.

The school’s decision to withdraw the query was confirmed in an official statement signed by the provost of the institution.

Additionally, a video of the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme has surfaced online, where he confirmed that he personally ordered the withdrawal of the query letter.

In the video he said;

“I have instructed the provost to withdraw the letter, we don’t want to victimize any of the students. I have also reached out to the student in question and she confirmed to me that the letter was withdrawn. I want the public to be aware of this.”
