Popular Nigerian singer, Davido’s much-anticipated one-day music festival, the AWAY festival, has been postponed till November 2023.
Following the death of the singer’s son, Ifeanyi, the music festival, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, November 18, has been postponed by a year.
The singer’s management announced the new date in an Instagram post on Wednesday, November 11, describing the decision to postpone the much-anticipated festival as hard but necessary.
The statement read,
“We have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone A.W.A.Y Festival until Saturday, November 18, 2023. To all ticket buyers, your tickets will be honored for the 2023 date. We understand that you must be disappointed but we promise to come back with a bigger and better show. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future.

This comes after the singer took down posters of the music festival from his Instagram page, following the death of his son, Ifeanyi.
The singer had, before the tragic incident, been promoting the music festival tagged “A.W.A.Y. (Are We African Yet?)” on his social media pages. The festival, which the singer said was to promote and foster cultural exportation and collaboration between Africa and the rest of the world, was slated to hold on November 18, 2022, in Atlanta.
However, following the tragic demise of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi, the DMW boss, who has been off social media since the incident, deleted the event posters that were previously pinned to his page.
