Nigerian musical duo, Isaiah Precious and George Dandeson, popularly known as Ajebo Hustlers, have defended Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy‘s controversial claim that the lyrics of Afrobeats lack “substance.”
The Afrobeats and Highlife duo took to the microblogging platform, Twitter and asserted Burna was accurate since the majority of well-known Nigerian musicians create meaningless music.
Recall that Damini Ogulu professionally known as Burna Boy, riled up netizens when he said that 90% of Afrobeat tracks, which are primarily from Nigeria, “lack substance and real-life experience” in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. ICYMI “Afrobeats has no substance, it’s just about having an amazing time” – Burna Boy
According to Ajebo Hustlers, the ‘Last Last’ crooner was speaking the cruel truth, and no amount of outrage will change that fact.
Ajebo Hustlers tweeted,
“Be mad at Burna all you want!! Still don’t change the fact that half y’all favs make music with no substance. Tbh [to be honest] that’s absolutely fair cause this is entertainment at the end of the day. But he’s saying the bitter truth.”
