Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun, the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Olori Omoba of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 89.
He died in the early hours of this morning, May 19, in London. The news of his death has been confirmed by media personality Dele Momodu, who shared the information on Instagram.
Dele Momodu wrote,
“Diamonds are forever OVATION INTERNATIONAL magazine (since 1996)… Good night CHIEF OLASUMOMI BALOGUN… Rest in Peace Sir.”
Just recently, popular indigenous Nollywood actor, Murphy Afolabi, has been reported dead at the age of 49.
According to multiple sources, he died from injuries he sustained from falling down in the bathroom in the early hours of Sunday, May 14.
A colleague, Tunde Ola Yusuf, confirmed the sad story.
This comes after it was reported that veteran Nigerian thespian, Obinna Nwafor, better known by his stage name Saint Obi, tragically passed away recently.
According to reports that’s circulating the web, Obi kicked the bucket on Monday, May 7, 2023. The veteran actor is said to have passed away after spending several months travelling to the hospital for treatment of an unspecified illness.
A source who spoke to blogger, Moji Delano revealed that the actor, who he had seen a couple of times and recognized as Saint Obi, had died on Sunday and that the following day, his body was taken to the morgue at JUTH. This was following a visit to his sister’s residence in Jos.
