Controversial Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti has disclosed that his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, would have his P.A (personal assistant) go to London to bring him chocolates and ice cream.
He remarked that his father was evidence of the fallacy of anyone who claimed that being a pan-Africanist entailed suffering.
He stated that Fela’s assistant would travel from Nigeria in the morning and land in London in the afternoon, just to purchase the beloved candies of the Afrobeats pioneer, who would then return that same evening.
In a video that he put online, Seun Kuti chastised people who think that he and other Pan-Africanists should lead austere lives devoid of luxury and worldly pleasures.
He said;
“Anybody in this world that says to you to be a Pan Africanist is to struggle, means to suffer is a liar. Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Fela too na liar? Fela no be Pan- Africanist, you lick ice cream reach Fela?
Fela go send him PA, Tuesday morning flight to London that wan go leave Nigeria by 10am,e go arrive London by 3pm. He has to go to Bon street to buy Fela’s favourite sweet.”
