Just after 5 days after regaining his freedom from Ikoyi Prison, a robber identified as 26-year-old Tunde Okunola, has been rearrested.
The robber was rearrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, alongside an accomplice identified as 27-year-old Segun Adigun while trying to rob one Gift Omini at around 4;45 a.m on Wednesday at Marwa Roundabout, Lekki.
The suspect who spent six months and two weeks in Ikoyi prison before regaining freedom, pleaded with the police, disclosing that he is a trained barber and was looking for funds to start up his business in Lagos.
Okunola, who was released from Ikoyi Prison, on Friday, October 5, 2018, added that if released, “I will never step into Lagos again”. The robbery victim, Gift Omini however told the police that the suspects who were riding a bike, used a short axe to dispossess her of a mobile phone.
“My shout for help attracted the attention of RRS officers at the Roundabout and they chased and arrested them,” she added.
Recall also that one Gracious David West was rearrested for armed robbery, months after he was fully rehabilitated by the Omega Power Ministries, Port Harcourt, Rivers state. According to reports, the church helped the ex-militant and armed robber to secure an employment with the Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO, after his rehabilitation, but he still went ahead to steal from students while at work.
He was later rearrested in Aba, Abia State, after using an army uniform to rob a woman of her car. He was charged to court and subsequently remanded in prison.
