Nigerian doctor and visual artist, Fola David celebrates as he receives a record for the world’s largest drawing by an individual from Guinness World Records.
David made history on 21 July 2024 by surpassing the existing Guinness World Record (GWR) for the world’s largest drawing by an individual.
The massive artwork, themed ‘Unity in Diversity’ surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters held by Ravi Soni from India.
The record-breaking event was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos State.
Notable Nigerian figures visited Fola to support him during his record attempt; such as the Nigerian Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, popular singer, Qing Madi, and Hilda Baci, the record holder of the world’s longest cooking marathon.
With a boldly written award description, the visual artist posted a heartwarming photo of himself holding the personalized Guinness World Record plaque on his Instagram handle.
The award writes,
“The largest drawing by an individual is 1,004.7 m (10814.5 ft) and was achieved by Fola David-Tolaram (Nigeria) in Lagos, Nigeria, on 21 July 2024”.
In his caption, he wrote,
“Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I’ll tell more on this story of a 9 year journey later on. For now… we made it. Let’s Celebrate 🇳🇬”
