A former Minister of Education (State), Olorogun Keneth Gbagi has arrested, stripped naked and charged to court 4 of his hotel staffs for allegedly stealing N5,000.
Gbagi is currently among the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants in Delta state in 2023.
According to Sahara reporters, Gbagi arrested four members of his staff working in one of his establishments, Signatious Hotel in Warri, Delta State. He stripped them naked and took pictures of them inside the hotel before handing them over to the police.
It was gathered that after the dehumanizing treatment, the four staff comprising of three females and one male, were detained at the Ebrumede Police Station.
A staff of the hotel, speaking in confidence with Sahara reporters, revealed that his colleagues were arrested over the alleged theft of N5,000.
In his words: “My boss, former Minister of State for Education and owner of Signatious Hotel, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, arrested four of my colleagues working for him over the stealing of N5,000 from the hotel when actually the N5,000 was given as a gift to them by a guest because of their good behaviour.”
“Before they were arrested by the police on Friday last week at the hotel, the four staff were stripped naked while they were photographed in the presence of the police.
“We learnt that the dehumanising treatment was instructed by our boss.”
According to Sahara reporters, the hotel management also forcefully withdrew money from the bank accounts of the four staffs before the police took them away.
The names of the arrested staffs are Gloria Oguzie, Victor Ephraim, Rosslyn Okiemute and Achibong Precious. They were arraigned before a magistrate court in Effurum after four days in detention, facing a five-count charge.
The four staff, were granted bail on Monday through the intervention of some anti-corruption and human rights activists.
Confirming the story, Warri-based human rights lawyer, Omemiroro Maxwell Ogedegbe, stated that they were granted bail by a magistrate court sitting in Effurun, Delta State.
