Former Nigerian Tennis Star Tanya Okpala Rescued By Governor Charles Soludo After Being Found Wandering On Akwa Streets (Video)

The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, has announced the successful rescue of Tanya Okpala, a former Nigerian professional tennis player, who was found wandering aimlessly on the streets.

A viral video captured Tanya Okpala in a mentally unstable state, roaming the streets of Akwa.

The distressing footage was shared on social media by a concerned individual who came across her.

Tanya Okpala and her sister, Katya Okpala, represented Nigeria in tennis during the 1990s.

Hailing from a mixed-race background with a Belarusian mother and an Igbo father, they made significant contributions to Nigerian tennis.

In the video, Tanya Okpala, nursing a wound on her left leg, revealed her identity as a former lawn tennis player who felt abandoned.

She shared the heartbreaking experiences of being labeled a prostitute by locals and being urged to return to her home country.

Despite her struggles, she proudly identified herself as an Igbo lady.

Expressing her plea for assistance, Tanya mentioned her plan to return to her village the following day to care for her daughter.

Taking swift action, Governor Soludo announced on Twitter that Tanya Okpala is now under the care of the Anambra State Government.

He confirmed that she had spoken to his wife, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs was overseeing her well-being.

Governor Soludo assured the public of her rehabilitation and emphasized his commitment to reuniting her with her family and daughter.
