Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo over the weekend underwent Covid-19 test at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The former president has received many guests of late, hence the test.
Mr Akinyemi said in a statement on Sunday that Obasanjo was tested for coronavirus on Friday at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library penthouse in Okemosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Giving details, Akinyemi said Dr. Olukunle Oluwasemowo collected Obasanjo’s sample for the test.
The media aide said the test result returned negative on Saturday.
This followed the death of former Ogun senator Buruji Kashamu on Saturday in Lagos. Buruji, 62, died of coronavirus complications.
The Popular Nigerian Senator who served as a Senator representing Ogun East in the 8th National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu died of Covid-19 complications.
His death was also confirmed by Senator Ben Murray Bruce.
The former Bayelsa Senator wrote on his verified Twitter page saying;
I have just lost my good friend of forever to #COVID19. Until his death, Sen. Buruji Kashamu and I were inseparable. He died today at First Cardiology Consultants, in Lagos. May his gentle soul rest in peace. I pray his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this heavy loss.
