Nigerian chef and restaurateur, Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has finally spoken out after losing the Guinness World Record to an Irish chef.
It was earlier reported that the Irish Chef, Alan Fisher, surpassed Hilda’s record to become the new holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Alan achieved a total cooking time of 119 hours and 57 minutes, which is over 24 hours longer than Hilda’s previous record of 93 hours and 11 minutes. Read here
The news was met with mixed reactions by Nigerians, as it’s only been five months since Hilda Baci broke the record and became the new holder of the title.
Well, the 27-year-old chef has now taken to Twitter to react to the latest development. She extended her congratulations to Alan and wished him the best.
She also expressed her joy at having held the record, albeit for a short time, noting that she would be forever grateful for the love and support she received from her fans and Nigerians at large.
Hilda wrote, “Huge congratulations to Alan Fisher! 119hrs 57mins is a huge achievement, and I wish him all the best as the new world record holder! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾”
In a follow-up tweet, she wrote, “I’m so happy to have held a record so prestigious and profound I will forever be honored and grateful for all the love and support ❤️❤️❤️”
