Popular gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi, has opined that no amount of prayer and fasting can cure a person living with HIV.
The 47-year-old activist, who is also HIV positive, stated this in a post shared on his Instastory while advising people living with the virus.
He admonished them to ditch the idea of praying and fasting to be healed, and instead focus on taking their medication and seek medical help.
Bisi wrote,
“If you are HIV+, no amount of prayers and fasting will cure you. Take your medication, exercise, think positively and live a happy life.
There is no healing in faith.
Your viral load will only come down if you adhere and not by how many days you pray or fast.
If your viral load is taking long to come down, talk to your healthcare provider about it and be honest about the lifestyle choices you have.”
Bisi, who is the first Nigerian to openly declare his sexuality as gay on national television, urged others still in the closet to come out.
According to him, if they open up about their sexuality their parents won’t die, insisting that it’s a lie used to keep them in closet.
