House of Representatives majority leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa has been placed in detention after being accused of homicide and arson.
On March 1, police officials announced the arrest, saying that Doguwa had been taken into custody at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Six people were killed in an assault on the INEC office in the APC legislator’s district, it has been reported. The attack is believed to have been organized by the lawmaker. At gunfire, the INEC representative allegedly proclaimed Doguwa the election’s winner.
On Wednesday evening, after being charged before Court 58 of the Magistrate’s Court in the Nomansland neighborhood of Kano state’s capital city, the judge, Ibrahim Mansur Yola, issued the remand order following the reading of the First Information Report. The case was then postponed until March 7.

In other news, President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered his acceptance speech after he was declared winner of the presidential election held on Saturday, February 25.
Tinubu, who secured a total of 8,794,726 to emerge winner of the election, gave his speech at the National Collation Centre conducted at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
He stated that it is indeed his turn to rule Nigeria, and appealed to his fellow contestants to join hands with him to build a better Nigeria.
Tinubu said;
“It’s actually my turn. I’m profoundly humbled to serve as the 16th President of our beloved country. This is a shining moment in the life of any man and an affirmation of our democratic existence;
I take this opportunity to appeal to my fellow contestants to let us team up together. It is the only nation we have. It is one country and we must build together.”
The former two-term Lagos state governor polled a total of 8,794,726 votes, to beat his main opponents Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the election.
